In the summer of 2021, when the Leipzig Games Convention was in full swing, a cosplayer known as 'FoamFrank' was determined to showcase his new masterpiece: a fully articulated EVA foam dragon suit. The convention was bustling, and the cosplay performance area was vibrant with the constant throng of people, from fans in elaborate costumes to judges evaluating entries for the cosplay contest. The air was thick with a mix of excitement and the occasional scent of warm circuit boards from nearby gaming stations.

Frank hadn't fully tested the range of arm movements in his dragon suit, a sleek and imposing design featuring metallic scales and a regal crest. The suit was his pride and joy, crafted meticulously over months of work with EVA foam and Worbla, a thermoplastic used for cosplay armor. Despite the suit's aesthetic brilliance, he hadn't fully considered the practicality of such a grand costume for the dynamic conditions of the convention.

As the day neared its peak, a sudden parade broke out in the main hall. Cosplayers from various sci-fi and fantasy universes, dressed as Star Wars characters, began an impromptu 'Clone Trooper March,' with drummers and trumpeters leading the way. The parade snaked its way through the convention halls, and amidst the chaos, the cosplay performance area began to attract more attention, including eager cosplayers and spectators who couldn’t resist the energy.

Amongst the crowd, FoamFrank was preparing for his big moment. His group, The Dragon's Breath, consisted of four other cosplayers dressed as various mythical creatures: a Phoenix named 'BlazeBelle,' a Unicorn named 'SparklyHooves,' a Griffin known as 'WingsRus,' and a Pegasus called 'SkyDancer.' Together, they were going to perform a choreographed dance to a local band's performance. The setting was a spacious area at the convention center’s Grand Hall, a stage adorned with elaborate backdrops of fantasy landscapes and twinkling lights.

The stage was packed with drum kits and musical instruments, set up by a group of dedicated cosplayers who doubled as the band. The lead drummer, clad in an outfit that resembled a warrior from a futuristic anime, was enthusiastically tuning his kit, ready to support the performance. The energy was palpable; the audience was eager and the performers were excited.

As the music started, the energy in the Grand Hall surged to a fever pitch. The Phoenix, Unicorn, Griffin, and Pegasus danced gracefully and with practiced precision, their movements synchronized to the rhythm. However, Frank, still getting accustomed to the movement limitations of his dragon suit, lost focus. In a moment of over-exuberance, his tail, which he hadn’t realized was slightly loose and overly flexible, swept across the stage. To everyone's horror and astonishment, the entire drum kit, along with the band members, was sent tumbling off the stage.

The drummer, in his warrior cosplay, flipped once and landed in a pose of mock distress, quickly catching himself and laughing. The audience erupted in applause and laughter, and the other members of Frank’s group were equally amused and supportive. FoamFrank, although mortified initially, couldn’t help but join in the laughter, realizing the absurdity of the situation.

The day didn’t end on that note, however. As the parade wound down and the chaos subsided, FoamFrank and his friends were approached by a group of cosplayers known for their creativity and expertise in EVA foam work. They offered him tips and suggestions to fix the mobility issue in his tail, which he gratefully accepted. Over the next few hours, amidst the convention’s buzz, they worked together, cutting and adjusting the foam to make it more maneuverable, Frank’s confidence growing with each adjustment.

By the end of the convention, Frank’s costume was not only a sight to behold but also functional enough for movement. The experience, filled with unexpected challenges and surprising camaraderie, became a memorable highlight for all involved, a reminder of the fun and creativity that defined the cosplay community at the Leipzig Games Convention.
